IRATA Terms and Conditions of Certificate Extension

IRATA Technician Certificate Extensions

We are aware that many of our technicians’ certification will expire through no fault of their own, and due to the situation with COVID-19, it may not be possible for technicians to undertake the required training and assessment. As the global situation continues to develop and in these exceptional circumstances, the IRATA Executive Committee have determined that where renewal of technician certification cannot be obtained as a result of COVID-19 restrictions, that an extension should be granted through a temporary certification extension process.

We have implemented a procedure for existing IRATA technicians to extend their certification and will consider applications for certification that has expired on or following 01/02/2020, or certification that will expire within 30 days from the date of application and additionally meet with at least one of the ‘Grounds for Extension’. No new candidates (currently IRATA un-certified) or un-assessed upgrades shall be permitted through this process.

Prior to submitting your application, please read the information below to check that you meet the requirements. A new certificate will not be issued but you will be sent notification of approval/rejection to the email address provided on your application. The IRATA Technician Checker will be updated accordingly.

Note: Certificate extension should not be assumed until you have received notification from IRATA.

If you are working in a country that is excluded from the certification extension scheme, you will not be able to extend your certification (see above list of excluded countries).

Period of Extension

Upon successful application, an extension of 90 days will be granted to your current (or expired as of 01/02/2020) certification. The period of extension will be 90 days from the certificate expiry date.

IRATA will continue to monitor the situation regarding COVID-19 and evaluate the suitability and necessity of the IRATA certificate extension process. This process will remain in effect until deemed that it is no longer necessary.

Grounds for Extension

IRATA will consider applications for certification that expired on or following 01/02/2020, or certification that will expire within 30 days from the date of application for extension. Additionally, at least one of the following ‘Grounds for Extension’ must apply to your application:
