Industrial rope access provides a safe, efficient and effective method of access for confined space entry and egress where required. The techniques used by our operator members within this sector requires that they complete strict and essential safety procedures prior to entry into such spaces. Our members work in a variety of confined space environments, both onshore and offshore, such as silos, storage tanks, access shafts, chambers and pipes. The need to access confined spaces is required for a variety of tasks including inspection, maintenance, repair and cleaning.

Throughout our global membership there are many members that are highly skilled in delivering complete confined space access and rescue plans, complemented by their expertise in industrial rope access techniques. Where a task ultimately requires confined space entry, a safe system of work will be followed by IRATA member companies, including emergency planning and the use of safety equipment, including gas detector’s and atmospheric monitors, as required.

Our operator members are knowledgeable in the legislative requirements of confined space entry and use the advantages of industrial rope access techniques to safely fulfil these requirements.
