THE ACCESS INDUSTRY FORUM CAMPAIGNS TO SAVE THE UK WORK AT HEIGHT REGULATIONS en

19/12/2022

IRATA International is backing the Access Industry Forum (AIF) in its campaign to save the UK’s Work at Height Regulations from repeal.

The Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill, which is currently passing through Parliament, seeks to remove EU-derived laws that remain in the UK statute book by the end of 2023 and currently, the UK’s Work at Height Regulations are set to be included.

The AIF is advocating for the exclusion of the Work at Height Regulations from the repeal and has submitted written evidence to the House of Commons Public Bill Committee, which is now considering the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill.

Our Chairman, Jonathan Capper, expressed genuine concern about the proposal and commented:

“The safety of those who work at height must be at the forefront of any decision regarding these regulations. The statistics clearly show that since the introduction of the regulations, the number of falls from height has declined.

We fully support the AIF’s campaign and stand collectively with our fellow AIF members in urging the House of Commons Public Bill Committee to recommend excluding the Work at Height Regulations from repeal.”

More information on the campaign can be found here on the AIF’s website.
