01/08/2025

Mira Rope Access has been named the winner of the 2025 Innovation and Excellence in Work at Height Award at this year’s International Work at Height Seminar (IWAHS), held at the Guildhall in London. The award recognises approaches that transform safety standards and operational efficiency in the work-at-height sector through innovative risk reduction strategies.

Considerations for Reducing Risk

By prioritising the elimination of human exposure to high-risk scenarios, Mira’s winning approach directly tackles the risks associated with confined space entry, including falls, entrapment, and oxygen limitation concerns.

The judges were unanimous in their praise, noting that Mira had implemented “an innovative application of technology to significantly reduce the risk to human life.”

The judging panel particularly highlighted the winning nomination’s alignment with the Work at Height Hierarchy of Controls, specifically its focus on the highest priority: avoiding human exposure to hazards where possible. This approach builds on established safety methodologies with technological advancements, reflecting the industry’s continued commitment to improving safety.

Operational Optimisation and Commercial Benefits

Beyond safety considerations, the winning nomination demonstrates thought to commercial efficiency, leveraging technology to deliver faster, while enhancing data quality and precision.

Their approach enables more frequent and informed maintenance decisions by minimising costly operational downtime, a key challenge in industrial maintenance operations.

Minimising Environmental Impact

A key consideration in the judges’ decision was the minimal environmental impact of the winning approach. The methodology achieves near-zero environmental disruption while maintaining comprehensive inspection capabilities.

As one judge summarised: “This nomination incorporates efficiency, cuts downtime, lowers environmental impact and enhances safety” – representing the holistic approach that modern work-at-height practices demand.
