THE ROLE

We are currently seeking Rope Access Boilermakers for various works across multiple mine sites with Australia’s biggest mining producers.

As a Rope Access Boilermaker/Welder you will assist and undertake planned maintenance, shutdowns and project works on fixed plant mining equipment.

Proven Capabilities with:

· Mine site refurbishment

· Major assets overhauls

· Vibrating or rotating equipment installation

· Shuttle maintenance and repairs

· Fabrication and on-site repairs

· Asset inspection and reporting

· Specialised welding – MMAW, GTAW and FCAW

· Ongoing preventative maintenance

· Relevant Australian Recognised Trade Qualification (Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication)

TRAINING & ASSESSMENT TECHNICAL OFFICER

IRATA has over 700 member companies currently operating across 68 countries and ranging across industry sectors such as oil and gas, construction, renewable energy, geo-technical and non-destructive testing. IRATA certification is widely recognised as the industry standard for rope access personnel and has over 100,000 qualified technicians worldwide who are trained to the highest standard based on the IRATA Training, Assessment and Certification Scheme (TACS).

Working at height safely is not achieved without diligence and application. IRATA’s safe working record has been verified in its unique Work and Safety Analysis (WASA) that is produced annually over the last 18 years. The WASA is the most comprehensive safety analysis in the sector, reporting 25.5 million hours worked in 2022.

The Role

It is an exciting time for IRATA. To accommodate IRATA’s global growth, we are developing a focused team dedicated to servicing IRATA’s growing stakeholders. A new and exciting role based at IRATA’s head office in Ashford, UK has been identified.

The candidate will ideally have a genuine passion for the vertical world and having a positive attitude to

help, listen and learn is key to the role.

This is an office based, full-time position working from IRATA’s head offices in Ashford, UK. This position will require some travel, overnight stays and will require occasional out of hours work as necessary to meet with project delivery timeframes.

The post holder will:

  • be fully conversant with IRATA safe working practices and IRATA rope access techniques;
  • be involved in the development and writing of technical documents and standards;
  • ensure all IRATA technical and training procedures are accurate and kept up to date;
  • keep up to date with current IRATA developments and technical specifications;
  • develop and organise IRATA internal and external training/demonstration events in conjunction with the head office team when required;
  • represent IRATA positively and professionally at events, such as IRATA meetings, seminars and external tradeshows;
  • deliver training or presentations either remotely (using video conferencing) or at various global locations;
  • prepare and submit regular reports on a timely basis;
  • gather and analyse statistical data and use it in support of recommendations;
  • monitor and suggest improvements to process and procedures to meet with changing requirements;
  • provide training to head office employees, consultants and 3rd party contractors (where applicable).
  • deliver presentations and practical training in an engaging and professional manner;
  • develop and produce clear, concise technical reports.

The person we seek will ideally meet the following criteria and be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Technical authorship – e.g. published articles, technical standards and/or reports, policy writing and safety advisory documents.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of IRATA governance, standards and guidance documents.
  • Be self-motivated, able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Be familiar with relevant industry legislation, technical standards and regulations.
  • Be a confident user of social media, e.g. Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn to engage with our stakeholders when required.
  • Ability to communicate and develop professional relationships at all levels within and outside the association.
  • Be organised, articulate and have a high level of literacy and numeracy.

Essential

  • IRATA Level 3 Technician (minimum 3 years’ experience).
  • Be fully versed in rope access related hazard identification, risk assessment and controls.
  • Demonstrable experience in the provision of IRATA training to the IRATA TACS.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Operational experience gained within rope access and use of rescue techniques and equipment.
  • Have full eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Be fluent in spoken and written English
  • Be flexible in their approach to working hours.
  • Hold a current full car a current passport.

Desired

  • IRATA assessor experience.
  • Experience in at least two of the following industry sectors; oil and gas (onshore or offshore), non-destructive testing, renewable energy, cleaning and painting, inspection and assessment, geo-technical, construction or maintenance and repair.
  • Demonstrable experience in technical standards and policy writing.
  • Hold a current full car driving licence.

Rumuneration

  • Salary commensurate with experience.
  • 23 days annual leave (+8 days public holidays) with annual loyalty increments up to an additional 5 days.
